Mountain Adventures Summer Camp

Sun, 06/30/2013 - 3:00pm - Sat, 07/06/2013 - 10:00am

Mountain Adventures Summer Camp begins and ends at the Spruce Knob Mountain Center (SKMC). Each week campers will take an overnight trip, either canoeing on the South Branch of the Potomac River or backpacking through the Monongahela National Forest. They’ll learn technical skills such as how paddle a canoe, load a boat, pack and carry a backpack, and cook and prepare their own meals. The rigorous and inclusive environment will also allow campers to learn more abstract lessons such as the significance of individual responsibility, and the how to be a productive member of a community. Although our "big" adventure changes every week, each camper will have the opportunity to hike to the peak of Spruce Knob (the highest peak in West Virginia - pictured above), enjoy refreshing swimming holes, participate in a Murder Mystery Dinner, stargaze and relax.
