MTM: Program Specifics

 

 

Program Specifics:

* Free Alternative Summer Camp

* Participation is free. All food, gear, equipment and instruction are provided.
This is a grant funded project through the Secure Rural Schools and Self Determination Act
and made available through a partnership with the United States Forest Service.

* Each week is worth up to 40 hours of community service.

* Participants will gain practical experience monitoring and maintaining Appalachian forests and streams

* Networking with 'green collar' professionals 

* The preferred model includes parents dropping participants off at the Spruce Knob Mountain Center
on a Sunday afternoon and picking them up the following Friday
afternoon.

* Mountain Institute instructors all hold current Wilderness First Responder, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
