Mountain Film Festival in Telluride, CO
TMI representatives attend the Mountain Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado to meet people concerned with alpine conservation and the mountain communities where TMI conducts its programs. Progressive works by outstanding filmmakers educate the public about the importance of protecting fragile mountain environments. TMI also encourages climbers to cooperate with and support indigenous mountain communities and wherever possible to deliver medical, educational and infrastructural services to these remote alpine communities.
This year, the 32nd annual film festival featured Mongolia, a country of particular interest to TMI. TMI board member, Robert Whitby hosted a group of mountain enthusiasts and friends of The Mountain Institute including Alex Bennett (pictured left), host committee member for TMI’s October 26th awards dinner, “A Celebration of Mountains” and Lyn Soudien, TMI’s director of development.
