A Notice on the Vanishing Biological Diversity
by Ananda Sagar Timalsina

This information is for the general public who cannot afford a square meal a day,and do not have a shirt on their backs.
This information is for various political parties and honorable ministers.
This information is for various NGOs, INGOs and other organizations.
Additionally, this information is for loyal government officials.
This information is also for the creator, preserver and destroyer: Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswor.
We need to look for the lost biological diversity, it must be somewhere here.
This green country is said to be covered by forests but the meaning of this phrase has been lost in talking, writing and arguing.
The earnings from the sale of forests is now green
Everywhere small children look, they see this strange glittering green.
Oh lord, even the universe has become poisonous and green to view
We need to look for the lost biological diversity, it must be somewhere here.
All that was lost has been found over time,

Science to mystical magic
Great leaders riding on people's votes
Skyscrapers touching the peak of Everest
People perverting everything
Bribe-takers, smugglers, black marketers, and the brave and the beautiful.
So please, O lord, let us look for something that is lost close by
Let us look for biological diversity.

O yes,

This diversity is perhaps a crumpled piece of paper in someone's pocket
Or is it in a file pressed down by paper weights?
Did it drop into the toilet seat while en route to Hong Kong, England or Germany
Was it scorched by the gun fired to silence people's voice.
But maybe not, my Lord, let us look for something that is lost here somewhere
Let us look for biological diversity.

Truly,

It seems like this diversity has fallen into the rivers, canals, lakes and ponds of Nepal
It seems like it is lost among the country's Himalayan peaks, hills, ravines and flatlands
It seems like it is lost in the air somewhere within Nepal's borders
Perhaps, it is lost among intellectuals that disagree in conference and seminar halls
We need to look for the lost biological diversity, it must be somewhere here.

I have called upon many people,

My eyes must have failed to see, my mind must be warped
Panicking, it seems I roasted sesame and barley seeds and made much noise in my heart
Let us get together, O community, and search for biological diversity
Let us involve the societies from Mechi to Mahakali
Let us give rightful wages for those involved in this search
Let us give wages to the thirty million hungry stomachs
How then can we not find this biological diversity
