Nature Photography Workshop

Spend a weekend photographing the spectacular natural beauty of the Appalachians while gaining tips and techniques for enhancing your own photographs. Through personal instruction from Jim Clark, both in the field and classroom, you'll learn how to better capture breathtaking images of the natural world and have the opportunity to explore many of the most wild and stunning natural areas of West Virginia.

Jim Clark

For the past thirty years, Jim has been an award-winning nature photographer, writer, motivational speaker, and instructor. His articles and images have appeared in magazines such as Outdoor Photographer, Nature’s Best, and Wonderful West Virginia.
A native son of West Virginia, Jim is the author and photographer of two books: West Virginia: The Allegheny Highlands (Westcliffe Publishers) and Mountain Memories: An Appalachian Sense of Place (WVU Press). Jim is currently completing two more books. The documentary film, “Mountain Memories," which was broadcast on PBS in 2003, profiles Jim’s life and career as a nature photographer.

Jim is past President of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and served on NANPA’s Board of Directors. In 2000 he received NANPA’s Outstanding Recognition Award.

Jim’s photographs are on exhibit at the Steve Payne Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, WV.

Prices and Accommodations

The cost for each weekend is $650; this includes all meals and lodging at the beautiful and rustic Spruce Knob Mountain Center as well as expert instruction from Jim Clark. The workshop runs from 1 p.m. Friday through 1 p.m. Sunday; registration is on a first come, first-served basis.
